Here are two cottage glass vases. The red one is from Antonin Rückl & Sons, Vcelnicka. Each has applied decorations in clear glass including spiral ruffled rigaree and a ruffled foot.

The first vase is green and white honeycomb spatter and measures 8 inches tall. Second vase above is lined in red with an oxblood and white spatter decor. It measures 12-1/2 inches tall and was found with a manufacturers label which reads "A. Ruckl & Sons, Vcelnicka".

Please follow this link to view the actual example with the manufacturers label:

    http://www.burchardgalleries.com/auctions/2012/feb1912/01images/l506.htm

This Ruckl label design was registered in 1903 per the Glasmarken Lexicon.

Please follow this link to view that same shape with an orange colored lining:

It is obvious that the vases shown above, especially photographed side by side, are two totally different shapes. Especially obvious considering one vase is 8 inches tall and the other is 12-1/2 inches tall. That is not how I feel they are related but through each respective decor being found on a variety of other matching shapes. For example:

    http://media-cache-ak0.pinimg.com/736x/22/1a/1e/221a1e881fe80ff3be9080979bbf7b8c.jpg

and here's the smaller vase in the red lined decor identified as Ruckl:

There is a web link being posted on CW lately that takes you to another webpage or honeycomb study page. The author suggest careful observation of the two shapes above but neglects to include that there is a very obvious difference in height.

As with my other spatter glass CW postings these two vases are double cased in clear. The inner casing layer on both is a paper thin layer of glossy clear.

All constructive comment and questions are welcome.

I just love these. I'm getting a cup of tea after a very long day at work and going to read it all properly. I've just acquired a similar piece from a good friend here :)

Your green piece, at a minimum, is Welz production....

Here are additional examples of this brick red lined décor labeled Ruckl for those interested:

Nope, that shape was also manufactured in the brick red lined spatter décor labeled Ruckl.

The brick lined pieces in the shape the same as this Welz honeycomb are Welz production. You don't actually think that every piece of glass in a decor similar to that one vase can be attributed to Ruckl based on a single piece of glass do you? Even you can't be that naive about Czeck glass can you?
    25. charcoal charcoal, 5 years ago
No, the same shape labeled Ruckl was manufactured in other "known Welz" decors.
    26. welzebub welzebub, 5 years ago
Actually the labelled piece, is not the same shape as the Honeycomb piece of Welz in this post. I know differences can be hard to spot for some, but this green example is not the same shape, although this Welz shape is also found in Oxblood examples. .
    27. charcoal charcoal, 5 years ago
None of the smaller vases have been found with a label. That doesn't mean that the shape is Welz.
    28. welzebub welzebub, 5 years ago
But they have been found in a variety of decors which can all be linked to Welz with supportable and robust empirical research....... Research which sure trumps a single vase in a different shape with a label that you have used to try and redefine Welz production into being Rückl.... for some weird reason.....
    29. charcoal charcoal, 5 years ago
It's not Welz production if it has a Ruckl label. It would appear that your robust and supportable Welz research has matched up a bunch of Ruckl shapes and decors. Great work!
