It's called a german free swinger..... a very nice one....any initials on the brass center of the clock and pendelum and do they match in design?
    3. cocacolaman62, 14 years ago
      Yes, they do match

Is there an anchor with a G on one side and B on the other side??? In mass shipping of these clocks ...the cases were in one box, the works in another ,the tops another, and the pendelums in another....sometimes they got separated..... A very nice period German Clock.

I looked on the works and found out its a Junghans clock.Cant find any other marks on it.Sides are glass.

That is a very well known German Clock maker....sometimes the side glass is fabric (silk) to have the chimes boom more! Thkz for putting it on show & tell...alway nice to see the old german clocks.

The best advice I can give is wind it the same day and time each 7 days...most are 8 day works...price I still think in todays market it is still $350 -$500 for a very nice working german free swinger from 1885 to roughly mid 1920's....especially since everything matches. You balance it by its tic-tock and not by a level....the pivots sag over time and you go by the beat. Up on the pendulum nut to speed it up and down to slow it down. I've seen 150 year german clock which have never been worked on but for light oiling. I've been out of the antique clock business for a number of years ...but still enjoy seeing a nice one. Thanks for show & telling it! Enjoy it!!!
