Found this 12" x 11" dish at GW today. It is Japanese Imari but not the typical cobalt and red on a white background. Instead it has a pale celadon green background with a blue design. Termed "Ao Imari "(blue/green Imari) , Shoki Imari, used underglazed cobalt blue painting that oftentimes borrowed from Chinese motifs, and was made in the Arita kilns near the port of Imari from the 17th Century. Examples are fairly rare with the green background rather than the standard porcelain white background. This one has an unusual shape. The design is a landscape but I can't seem to make out what that object is in the foreground. It sure is strange! -Mike-

Thanks CindB :)....I really don't know. It's been a while since I researched this piece. I usually check Gotheborg's site to see what there is about most of my Asian pieces. This is where I got my info for this piece. I think it's quite similar in decoration and color.
