This is an all original scale from an old movie theater. I have the original key to open the front and back of the item and it has all the original parts with the exception of the back lock being changed due to being jammed. It works when a penny is put in to reveal your weight.

The part you stand on says Made Only By Watling Scale Co. It is a late 1949 scale from some research I have done. The copyright date on it is from 1930.

The base is cast iron steel on the front and back. I am not sure what the cream colored part near the top is made of. Possibly porcelain.

Thank you for looking. It is much appreciated.

I had one these twenties years ago. Didn't know the age I just liked it until some one came over and liked it better than me and bought it.

Thank you for the feedback and info officialfuel. It is much appreciated. Yeah I saw the one you mention on Ebay. This one is different though. For example as I mentioned above in my description it says "Made only by Watling Scale Co." So this would seem to be one of the first if not the first models of this type made by any company.

I found a site that might help you or any else with questions on these sorts of items. http://pennyscale.com. They apparently have all the old Watling Co records and if you provide them the serial number they can tell you the history on the item. I e-mailed them and we will see what happens.

Toyman thank you so much once again. By the way I contacted the website mentioned above. I was able to receive the schematics on the scale and how to make any adjustments necessary. Also It apparently was completed in late 1949 and delivered on 1/3/1950 to a theater in Michigan. Pretty cool that these types of records are still on file and exist.
