I'm not familiar with this, but educated guess, would say Spanish Made, and pin push set, probably no jewel or small # of jewel movement. The crown would have been used to wind and when small pin pushed down and held beside the stem, turn the crown to adjust time. A lot of people don't understand how that works, so pulled on crown to try to adjust time and probably pull out of the stop lock.
Very interesting design graphics and basil embossment. Again just a guess, but would date 1930's -50.

Hello Kerry10456, many thanks for your words about my pocket watch, this is so much apreciated.
Very interesting your knowledges of the mechanical part.
I think the graphics designs can be masonic symbols, farm implements and construction and the compas and square.
      From already very grateful!
      Have a beautiful day.

Hi Virginia, I am 'guessing' this is a South American timepiece from Argentina, The case back depicts a ranch scene of man planting a tree with boy. Masonic timepieces usually uses symbols only with no human figures. Have a happy Easter!
      George

Hello George, many thanks for your words!
Yes, my grndmother was living in Argentina too!
The wonderful scene show a boy maybe with his father planting a tree, the father can be "The Estanciero".
      Happy Ester to you too!
      Blessing,

El Estanciero means the ranch or the farm. It is a fantastic looking watch, you should have this watch repaired at some point. Happy holidays!
    6. Virginia.vintage Virginia.vintage, 11 years ago
Yes,"estanciero" is the owner of the ranch and the lands around,is a powerful man.

      I think there's a Roskopf movement inside.
    14. Virginia.vintage Virginia.vintage, 11 years ago
Hello tempusfigit, yes I think the same but the mistery continues because this pocket watch havent any name inside as a trade mark!
Only have the patent number and the Switzerland cross mark.
Is a stronger type of watch.
      Many thanks for your words!
    15. VirginiaIron VirginiaIron, 11 years ago
Hello Vv - You could open up the rear of the case and it should have dates and the initials of the Horologist which cleaned or serviced it. You may need 10X magnification to see this information. At the least, if it was serviced, it will give you a date to attach to it- even though it is old.
    16. VirginiaIron VirginiaIron, 11 years ago
Oh, and something that old in white metal may be silver.
    17. toracat toracat, 11 years ago
Hello V.V.! on ebay for $15.00 you can buy a test kit for gold and silver, you would know then if sterling or 800 coin! Wow Costa Rica won, but not over yet!! Go Go Goal Uruguay!!! XXOOXX!!!!! your toracat and su novio Simon!!! Love from los dos!
    18. Virginia.vintage Virginia.vintage, 11 years ago
Many thanks for the infromation toracat! ;) I will think about, is a good idea.
Yes, we need now only win and its so hard because next match will be with England! :( they have a great futbol and later will be Italy so hard for Uruguay but as you said, dont lose the hopes :)
Thanks from my soul my friends! Dear Simon and you! :)
    19. Virginia.vintage Virginia.vintage, 11 years ago
Thanks so much VirginiaIron, yes is an strong type of watch.
I really think that is a high quality of silver.
      Thanks for stop! :)
    20. Virginia.vintage Virginia.vintage, 11 years ago
Yes, I could open the case and I just can see the patent number 16028 and in other side the number 133.
      Many thanks again VirginiaIron.
    21. VirginiaIron VirginiaIron, 11 years ago
I would check those areas again, and the movement, with a magnifying glass. Usually, the marks are very tiny and are difficult to see with the naked eye.
    22. geo26e geo26e, 11 years ago
VV, this looks very similar in case construction :http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/VERY-RARE-ANITQUE-GOLIATH-SWISS-POCKET-WATCH-ROSKOPF-PATENT-NICELY-CARVED-CASE-/191181078352?pt=Pocket_Watches&hash=item2c8347bf50&nma=true&si=xmPoU8gqhgv5Lihff1sRzJOte%252FM%253D&orig_cvip=true&rt=nc&_trksid=p2047675.l2557

This is a Rosfopf as suggested by tempusfigit.
    23. Virginia.vintage Virginia.vintage, 11 years ago
Yes, this is true, this watch have another initial very very small and imposible to see with the naked eye so I will try to find this glass to check it.
      Thanks so much VirginiaIron!!!
    24. Virginia.vintage Virginia.vintage, 11 years ago
Oh many thanksss geo26e, I will go to the site soon, later I will share about ;)
    25. Virginia.vintage Virginia.vintage, 10 years ago
Hello geo26e, I couldnt follow the link that you wrote but I went to Ebay Uk looking for someone similar as you told me.
At the moment I cant said exactly what I have, its very difficult to find someone like this.
I want to know the value of this pocket watch. If you think: very antique/more than very rare/high quality of silver/big size/gold details/maybe emerald in numbers/steampunk, goliath style/maybe Roscopff/amazing carved case/Full of Masonic symbols. Thanks so much and so sorry for the delay in write.
    26. geo26e geo26e, 10 years ago
      Virginia , I found this similar watch : http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/ANTIQUE-GOLIATH-ROSKOPF-RAILROAD-SILVER-POCKET-WATCH-/310235655992?pt=Wristwatches&hash=item483b7c6f38

Seller may not get the asking price and you need to spend some money to restore. Hope this will give you a general guide.
    27. Virginia.vintage Virginia.vintage, 10 years ago
Many thanks geo26! Now yes, I could follow the link!
Yes, similar carved case, colorful numbers, but...isnt Masonic.
I belive that be a Masonic very antique pocket watch its the real plus of the value.
Of course, as you said, I need pay the cost of the repair.
Thanks so much again, always you are helping me and its very apreciatted!

Virginia, does the watch work? You could probably get some hands for next to nothing. This site is from the US and might be expensive to ship, if available, but at least it gives you and idea.

      Pretty Cheap

The link doesnt work. Cas-Ker Jewelers Supplies

      http://www.jewelerssupplies.com/index.html

type " Hands " into the search
    30. VirginiaIron VirginiaIron, 10 years ago
The best way to determine the value of that watch is to take it to a jeweler and have them test the INSIDE of the rear case cover for silver/white gold.

If it is silver or gold it will determine the value. If it is not silver or gold it will determine a lesser value.
    31. VirginiaIron VirginiaIron, 10 years ago
I have some house clocks that I have purchased for the case and some house clocks that I have purchased for the mechanical movement. In my opinion, your value will be based on the metal case and the age, and if it works or not.
    32. Virginia.vintage Virginia.vintage, 10 years ago
Dear Virginia, thanks so much for the information and link that you wrote me.
Yes, you are right, the real value are in these points.
I dont know why but really I feel after to search for so many places in the web and watching more and more pocket watchs from many countries that this pocket watch have a special value, and not so smaller.
Just a simple idea of course, its that my heart said ;)
      Thanks so much again!!!

Virginia, rather it's working or not, it's one of the most beautiful pocket watches I've ever seen!! I just sent my Elgin pocket watch to be restored. Anxious to get it back. I love this one!
    46. Virginia.vintage Virginia.vintage, 10 years ago
Hi jscott, many thanks for your comment and appreciation.
The old pocket watch isnt working, this need be restored as well but for the moment for me the most important is to know what it means, who did it and when.
Im agree with you, still I cant find another like this, very unusual.
I wish you the best with your great Elgin, can understand your anxiety ;)
Many and many thanks for your words!!

It's a pity you didn't think to ask your grandmother, never mind if you haven't got the answer yet someone is bound to know something. Is the any writing or numbers on it that you or anyone else maybe able to run with for you, it may help.
