Their use to be an auction in Danville, Indiana every Friday night. So many people went there just for the food. This auctioneers mom made the best home cook meals! Great food and an auction, what more could you ask for. Well enough of reminiscing about the old times. I found the signature quilt there one night. It has 32 signatures on it from Indiana and Illinois. Women would get together and quilt years ago and they would put their names, city and state on the quilt.

Thank you AR8Jason. No, I have never researched the names. It seems I'm always busy doing something. You are right I should some day do that, but for now it's displayed on one of my trunks for everyone to see. Glad you like.

OK, so it's been 6 months, 24 days since you said it would be interesting to research the names and origin of the quilt...have you?
I love this kind of stuff. Unfortunately, no quilts in Spain... :( And I refuse to pay online prices for something I can't touch. It's way too easy to to sell repros over the web...

This could well be one of the quilters: Lola L Newport (1885 - 1955)
Born in Patricksburg, Owen, Indiana, USA on 1885 to John D Lloyd and Margaret Jane Gouchenour. Lola L married Portins W Newport and had 3 children. She passed away on 25 Dec 1955 in Owen, Indiana, USA.

Old quilts are a weakness of mine. Its almost impossible for me to pass one up when Im going to yard sales or estate sales. This is very pretty
