So just wondering how I did today? I am at the lake here on a little holiday - and of course I am always looking for things.......LOL

Found this bigger tin litho metal Fire Chief Car. It is a Friction toy. Not bad shape for age and at least the front//back bumpers are there - as well as ALL the wheels. So complete. License plate says 1955, so I am assuming the date. Can't find a maker name right now except Japan. Love the Art Deco look of the writing on the side!!

    Size is about (guess):
    ~ 9 inches long
    ~ 4 inches Wide

Any other info Welcomed.....Thanks for looking!!

I believe you would be right about the license plate being the date. I recall having these growing up during the 50's. We were country bumpkins so the closest department store was in the next state. Most of what we got was from the local five and ten cent store or the local hardware store which sold everything from ammunition to clothes to toys. Most everything was simply marked Japan. If it was marked MARX etc. you knew mom and dad had been to the big city. You loved your toys because back then TV didn't broadcast after 6 at night where we lived.

@ fhrjr2 = yeah, i think it is the date on this metal Toy Car. I grew up on a farm too so know what you mean.

i still have my *Marx* BEST OF THE WEST figures, horses too. Yup parents had to go to the city to get them.

They are already posted on here....LOL
