Today I'm making home made noodles, and thought I would share some of my kitchen gadgets. I pick up noodle cutters just about any time I see them, but only use a few. The roller was my mother's, and it has bearings and wouldn't trade it for the world. With my old gadgets making noodles is a breeze.
I use many of my gadgets, and can't seem to stop picking them up. I have hundreds and always adding anything with painted wood, and graters of all kinds. I have a wall full of strainers, from pasta to all sizes with handles. I have a good collection of iron skillets, dutch ovens that I also use almost daily. If I showed you everything it would take up the whole first page. I would rather use the old stuff than anthing new.
My poor husband who always asks "why" when I pick up another piece is also an enabler. Last year for my birthday he drove through a snow storm to bring me my McDougall's hooiser, so I had more room for more stuff!
I have a lot kitchen stuff some works better than the new stuff.Pluse its great to show off.
And what are making for desert?
dessert
Actually :) I am making something for desert. I'm making St. Patrick's day sugar cookies.
I did the same thing haha
Vestawind, love your collection. I am young, but enjoy looking at what collectors have accomplished. Lunch break, back to school now.
I LOVE your old kitchen collection. In pic 3 I have the same strainer and small pealer/grater. I actually use them all the time. The strainer I picked up at a garage sale years ago for 10 cents! They just don't make things like they used to.
Your making me hungry for a home cook meal! Guess I'll have to go and see mom.
You just missed breakfast I made french toast.
Hey.... now it's pic 1 that shows your strainer and pealer.
Why don't we have a pitch in. We can all bring something so there will be plenty for all.
Picnic! Who's bringing the beer? I have cards!
I'll make gnocchi with gorgonzola sauce!! :)
tikiray is that italian?
yep, it's potato dumplings.... my favorite!
Vestaswind: try to avoid washing any of your wood handle items in the dishwasher,if possible try and avoid placing the wood handles in water, they will give you many more years of service. Thanks for sharing your photos with us.
I always hand wash my old kitchen stuff, and never emerge in water. Most of my stuff I've had forever.
Do you also add a nice soft rubbing of olive oil to deter rusting ?
No. Mostly because what I don't use, I have sitting out, and I hate anything that attracts greasy dust. I don't mind rust on my old stuff, I like the rustic look!
Love your old kitchen stuff. And homemade noodles? Yum! That's something I have never tried to do.
Thanks!!
Love all the "stuff"; I have some of the same gadgets. Got several from my grandmother's house when my 95 year old aunt died. Had to pass up the hooiser cabinet. :(
