This is a pair of Wind Tunnel Ejection Seat Test Models. They measure about 20" tall and are solid aluminum, they weigh about 32 lbs each. They have machined mounting hole drilled in them for the tunnel 'stinger' arm (behind pilots left shoulder) which would allow precise placement and even rotation in the airstream.
These are early seats, they came from England and are probably Martin Baker surplus from the 1960's. The seller said they were found in a scrap yard North of London!
The hunched over figure simulates a bad pose for ejection or possible shoulder strap reel failure. Not good. The erect figure shows the proper position for leaving the aircraft.
I'll be posting another much never windtunnel model seat later.
Great!!! find....cool decor and talking point to have in the corner of your home...or am I being odd!!..:-)))
You're being odd inky, but glad these were saved from the scrap yard. Of course, here, I don't have a mantle to put them on. Miss that about my old bulky TV as there is no place to put knick-knacks on top of a flat screen TV. LOL
These are so cool flogger !!!
I love them & think id be odd like inky & have them on display somewhere too ;-))
