Hi. My brother found this in my dad's attics while cleaning it out. Can anyone give me any idea what exactly it is and how old it may be. My parents are gone and I have no background.

Looks like it was a canvas or paper covered American travel trunk from 1910 to 1920. No makers label, so it could have been made by one of a hundred different manufacturers.

Thanks so much. I will attempt to take some pictures of the bottom as well. Perhaps there would be markings there? I know it has one leather strap on it. Again, thanks so much!!

Ok I brought it home and it's all wood with metal bands. One leather strap is on the side and one missing on the other side. With it being all wood, does that help with determining the age?

The age range Jim gave you would be right.... this is a common style and type of trunk and many were made at this time period. We get a pretty good idea of age from style of trunk and the type of hardware used. Someone at some point took off the outer covering either paper or canvas and stained it. It is a lovely piece of family history to cherish...
