Hi:
We have a captian's chest that was owned by Captain E C Lea. At least that is what the brass engraved name plate on the top of the chest says.
It's been hanging around our family's home for as long as we can remember. A friend who knows wood says it's made from some kind of fruit wood, cedar lines. It is 36 inches across, 19 inches deep by 17 inches high. There are no dove tail fittings. Flat cut wood held together by brass corners Has a lock but no key. Any help is appreciated especially if you know how to trace the name Capt E.C. Lea
Thanks
Bob
Nice looking chest Bob.
There is one on ebay very similar that says its camphor wood.

HI Similar but ours has a flat top. This one is rounded. I had an antique collector look at the pictures. He also said it camphor wood and probably made in China mid 1800's he did not have a value but said if I could track down E C Lea the value would go way up.
Thanks for looking for me.
