My lovely bride really liked this piece, and we bought it. The question is, what is it? The dealer said it was an enamel Berry basket. It is certainly enamel, and in really good shape, but I can't find anything out there like it using that description. Has anyone seen one of these before? It measures 13 1/2' high with the handle, The body itself is 9" high, 6 1/2' wide at the mouth and foot, and 9" at the widest point. It's white enamel with a blue rim. We are thinking of putting a candle or light in it and using it on our porch. Any information is surely appreciated!
I think if anything it may have been for olive picking....:-)
Thanks, inky, but all the olive ones I say were galvanized, not enamel, and they had slots instead of holes. Also, usually baskets like that have a wider top than middle, so it's easy to get the berries, or whatever in. I'm starting to think it's a strainer of some kind, or maybe a minnow bucket. I've certainly never seen one like it!. Thanks for the comment, inky, and the loves everyone!
