This is a carte de visite (CDV) of a Civil War field grade officer with a pistol stuck into his boot.

He cap has what appears to be the numeral "33" for the 33rd Regiment, but with no photographer's backmark, I have been unable to ID the soldier or state he served.

Pistol could be a S&W Model No. Two Old Model (a.k.a. No. 2 Old Army), .32 rimfire long.
      A couple shown here:

      Thanks buss-- just annoyed.

I posted some information on this item:

      http://www.collectorsweekly.com/stories/152199-1960s-70s-budweiser-beer-sign-mirror?in=user

The mirror dates from the 1980s- 90s (construction is a dead giveaway), but of course the original poster doesn't want to hear the truth and deleted my comments.

I even took the time to find a similar mirror with the SAME product number and the SAME Busch stamping (w/0 zipcode) that was DATED 1988!

Probably not a big deal, but some folks use this site for research and I don't like to see BS information out there as the truth.

That style of boots are usually associated with cavalry to me. That revolver would slide down inside his boot if he stood up. Probably a prop.

He has on spurs as well, but the "33" is too high for any CAV units.

Could be a prop or a private purchase sidearm.
