I love nice Japanese porcelain :) Its a very intricate piece, but I can't find the mark on Gotheborg. Tons of gilt detailing. Might have to translate the kanji on it
UPDATE - Found it. Nippon Yokohama Imura tsukuru. Never heard of it
This is a gorgeous piece Still :) I love Imari too. It's really not expensive when I find it and usually gets priced very low at our thrifts. Japanese porcelain just can't seem to catch a break when compared to Chinese. They're every bit as beautiful but the market wants Chinese at the moment. So there's great bargains to be had !
I've been saying the same thing too! If you want to invest in fine Japanese porcelain, now is the time to do it. I routinely see technically beautiful, highly artistic Satsuma go for around a hundred dollars. If that stuff was Chinese it would be fetching 4 or 5 figures. I've always found Japanese art/antiques to be superior to Chinese to be honest. Even the high end Chinese pieces. Its okay, but just okay.
yes! Stillwater, nice to see you back again man. Hope all is well, later!
That is a very nice piece
excellent piece can,t see if it is coming from imura, but it looks an early one, well done congratst
i think the point ought to be is this Nippon Yokohama Imura Zo , maybe that explain things
