My friend called me just as I pulled into Salvation Army this morning to tell me a local church where he lived was having an indoor yard sale. Of course I'm on the totally opposite end of town but I did get there eventually. I walked into the auditorium of St. Nicholas's Church. The first thing to catch my eye was this vase. I picked it up looked at it and put it down. I continued to scan everything and came back to it. Well there's a remains of a label and it's not Chinese so here we go. I could barely make out what was left with my magnifying glass ... " LROS ...ORIGINAL..MADE IN ITALY . I went to 20th century glass's website when I got home and found the complete label under their Alrose section. Alrose seems to be the importer and not the maker. The examples they show of this stripe pattern are attributed as being Empoli glass which is in the Tuscany region near Florence. It stands 16" tall and about 8" in diameter at the bottom portion. The rim is cut diagonally across two thirds of the top. A neat piece and a great bargain at five dollars ! -Mike-
