This is one of my favorite pieces. My friends grandmother passed away a few years ago and his family had no interest in any of her things. He was very close to her and was crushed when she passed. Out of love he ended up taking her entire estate I mean every thing down to her old dust pan! I told him I could not except the gift knowing how much she meant to him and he said that I am the only other person he knows that respects objects for the story behind them not just for a cash value. And that his grandma would have wanted it that way. He has yet to give anyone else outside his family anything that was hers. I am honored by his gift and I treasure this piece as if it came from my own grandma. Side note: More people need to think about what they have. After a family member passes before throwing things in the trash or selling them think about why the items have remained, what story can they tell? This is a comment that although contradicts the way I obtain many of my treasures, I feel its important to bring up.
Side note: Very well said vintagemad!
Thanks Officialfuel,tikiray.
I love the "side note" comment, you hit the nail on the head!
Often an items story is a lot more valuable than the item itself. Very touching...
"BRAVO !!!!"
Ditto.
Thanks For Sharing...
Thats sweet!
I agree, very well said! It took me 6 months to donate my moms wheelchair. I left it sitting in the living room where she used to sit in front of the t.v as if it's being there would somehow make her remain. I have all her old pictures & diaries & am very grateful!
