Here's the second ship painting I found at Goodwill this morning. Since this ones on a wood panel no damage like on a canvas can occur. This one is of "The Water Lily". There's a bit of a shadow in the sky at the top from the art light. Not a dark cloud. Fully documented on the back and by one of Vermont's well known maritime artists Ernie Haas. -Mike-

Ernie Haas: Maritime Artist Extraordinaire (1929-Present)

Ernest Haas, a retired history teacher, is a painter of historical canvases who lives in South Burlington Vermont. Haas, 86, who was a volunteer on the Lois McClure boat project states "Aside from these amateur forays into historical boat-building, my hope to get back to painting was encouraged when the Maritime Museum asked me to do a number of illustrations for some of the exhibits there. Some galleries showed an interest and I have kept busy ever since. At the same time, I took advantage of the colorful history of the lake and did quite a few paintings on my own of the early side-wheelers and other craft that sailed there". Mr. Haas has been painting ships and maritime scenes for more than 60 years.

    Vanished Vessels Made Visible
A special exhibit of works in 2013 by marine artist Ernest Haas, brings lake history vividly to life. For more than 20 years, Haas has worked with the Lake Champlain Maritime Museum archaeologists to create dramatic paintings that capture the lake's legacy of vanished vessels.
