Hello Again,
I slipped out of work today to check out an estate sale a few doors down from the church.
It was a great old sea captain's house on the main street.
A teacher that I had in high school had lived there, a wonderful woman who loved Shakespeare, Dickens, Shelley, and Emily Dickinson. The house reflected the amazing person she was.
I bought a couple of books, a large stone that she had on a table in her living room, a cat made out of a single piece of wire, a double cd of Schubert lieder, and this handsome hammered copper candlestick.
It's fabulous! I haven't seen enameling on Arts & Crafts copper in this way.
There are numbers on the bottom, but no maker's stamp.
Ring a bell with anyone?
Looks, loves, and comments welcome,
Have a great week-end,
Tony.

Thanks for the love, getthatmonkeyoutofme
much appreciated!!
The enamel in the hammered recesses is particularly nice. The form looks like something that the Darmstadt School would have designed.
Thanks for the loves, Trey, catteann, and cogito, much appreciated!
Cogito, Thank You also for the kind and helpful comment!!!
Thanks for the look and love, blunderbuss!
I agree with Cogito. I think this is European; german or dutch. The red enamel is an unusual colour and in good condition. Nice find.
Thank You for the comment, Jewels,
