Hello Again!
I bought this at the same estate sale where I found the platter that I posted yesterday. This is a beautiful piece, an impressive 11+1/2" of Aztec designs. I think this type of Mexican pottery would be called 'Tonala', but I'm not sure.
It appears to have a burnished finish, and is entirely hand painted. I believe it's a cast piece, as there seems to be a seam on each side, which leads me to believe that it's not an antique piece, but it's definitely old.
Does anyone recognize the signature? That will tell a lot more about it.
It stood on the fireplace mantel at the sale, me being a late comer to the sale I was surprised to find it.
Thanks for taking a peek!
Happy Sunday,
Tony.

i love it!!! i think it's called Aztec Ware, although it looks a little earlier maybe or just different than most Aztec Ware pieces i've seen. definitely Tonala. many of us who collect Mexican pottery love Aztec Ware!!
this is the more typical: http://www.ebay.ie/itm/8-Vintage-AZTEC-Opaque-Tonala-Mexican-Art-Pottery-Vase-/151770977051?hash=item235641531b
