This sculpture is much more traditional and much less "arty" than the Hoya Faces sculptures, but is beautifully made nevertheless.
From the 1970s I think (or early 80s) I find it appealing because it is so serene. Hoya have chosen to model a beautiful specimen of a horse in a less than heroic way, so different to most horse sculptures. It's beauty really works on so many levels.
The posture of the horse, it's evocative modelling, and the quality of the crystal work make it a pleasure to look at. As good as a crystal animal can get for me!
Height 12cm
Very pretty :-)
Love your glass, and animals glass :-))
Wow! It looks like a piece of crystal ice....just beautiful! RER(Bob)

More to this than meets the eye !!!!

Yes it is stunning, never seen one before.
I love horses and I absolutely love this piece - beautiful!!
I agree with Loumanal, it looks like a beautiful piece of melting ice!
Wow thanks for the love all!
If I haven't got you looking out for Hoya sculptures by now I have done a poor job!!
As Vet says, much more to this supposedly simple piece than meets the eye, yes it looks almost like ice, is beautiful and stunning.

What a beautiful piece, I'm thinking he is looking for that perfect spot to have a roll or circling for a lay down. Gorgeous :)
Wow! I've been trying to get over to this horse for a few minutes here and so glad I made it! It looks almost like a melting ice sculpture! Just amazing. I can't even fathom how they did this. And they did do it differently than the stoic style sculptures one always sees.
Good Morning? Evening Karen, had to step back and review this again, can't seem to get over the purity of the crystal on this....one word doesn't say it all, but "OUTSTANDING" comes as close as this feeble mind can come up with.
Kerry it grabs me every time I see it too.
I'm so glad it is giving pleasure to you.
Good evening, and thanks.
Thanks Lulu...it tells a story, I agree.
Sue, the posture is different and poignant. I wasn't sure if others would feel the same as I do. ....why did I ever doubt you?
Thank you.
So beautiful
Thanks Fran for your love and comment.

Oh just wonderful, just wonderful.
Thanks CA and KC!
This is soooo beautiful! I don't collect glass like that but I would have picked it ip if I would have seen it!!!
Honestly, this is the most beautiful piece I've seen in a very, very long time. Stunning.
This piece is unforgiving, simple, stunning -- and Memorizing !!
WOWSER !!
I have had this beautiful piece on my shelf for many years. It is just lovely and your picture of it really does it justice!
Glad this came up again, as I now remember what it reminds me of, those T'ang Dynasty horses! Do you think they may be related, Karen?
Thanks zzwanda. I'm sure you are more than aware how beautiful these works are.
I still sit and admire this constantly.
Thomas I am sure you see beautiful horses where you are so I'm glad you love this one too. Thanks.
That's a really good point Katherine. The Japanese have had a long and close relationship with horses as physical and spiritual creatures and I get that from this sculpture. It is a moving piece and the T'ang horses evoke emotion too. See? You made me think about it and I agree!
The posture of the horse was what made me think of it, as you know, the T'ang horses were modeled in natural poses. It's beautiful in itself, of course, and when one considers how important horses were in their culture, very evocative, as you say. Thanks for sharing this beautiful sculpture. :)
Love this!
Geez.. this is so00 gorgeous. I want one. :)
Thanks again Katherine.
Elisabeth thanks for the love.
You to OGF. Keep looking, they turn up occasionally.
Gorgeous!!
Thanks MrsT and I am glad you found this amongst my glass, and have enjoyed it.
It's currently packed away in a box so it's a pleasure for me to see again too!
