My father gave me this with the following story. My great grandfather purchased this Dobro in a pawn shop on Beale Street in Memphis right after his marriage. My great grandmother played it and passed it down to my grandfather, who played it all his life. It has a serial number of 1557 and is marked patent pending. I have tried researching, but get lost in a sea of confusion. Best I can tell, it's a 1929 or 1930's model. Beyond that, I just don't know. I love it and am teying to learn to play a little.

I sure hope you are better learning than me on a banjo I made! I must have had good neighbours or they kept their TV volumes at max. I was so lousy, that I built a 2nd one!
Great item.
I wish that this item can talk, who is played with it? Frank Stokes, Sleepy John Estes....?
I was thinking the same thing! Wish it could tell me where it's been!
