This is one of my oldest books. It shows a lot of wear, but then it is 283 years old.
Cover appears to be leather covered thick pressed paper/board. If there was any printing on the cover, it is not visible now.
    Title page:
A Short View Of The Whole Scripture History
    By, I. Watts, D.D.
    LONDON
    Printed for Eman Matthews
    M.DCC.XXXII
Notice the letter "s" as used in certain words, i.e. Old Testament, Represented, Illustrated, etc.
It is a 158 page book with the Table Of Contents in the back followed by 3-fold-out plates or tables that are a little larger than the books pages, therefore have to be folded to be contained in the books covers. They have began to separate at the folds and are very fragile.
The first one (not shown above), is of the Tabernacle with the Court and Camp .
The second one (photo #3 above), is the Outside of the Tabernacle with it's Coverings and clothing with descriptions, worn by the Priest.
The third one (photo #4 above), is the Inside of the Tabernacle with it's Holy Vessels. In the center, is a lift-up tab of the vail/curtain that reveals the Most Holy Place with the Ark.

    Thanks for looking,
    Dave

Alan, if I remember correctly, the "f" like character is referred to as a "long s" in early writings.

I love these very old books, sometimes the back spline, or binding paper may be hundreds of years older then the book itself, and may be a different language, because paper was a rare thing, so if it wasn't seen, recycle! And we thought that was something new to do! :^)
