Original 1959 Brooke Bond Canada Album Complete Set Song Birds of North America (This album not issued in the U.S.!)

Issued in Canada and America in Red Rose Tea. You had to send away for the albums taping your 25 cent coin to the order form.

These books are now fairly rare. This is the first album they put out and manufactured in Canada. So this one since it is the first book of the series, is hard and expensive to get.

My mother drank Red Rose Tea and Blue Ribbon, so we were happy to get the cards when we were kids, I seem lucky to have gotten this card and the rest in the series of Brooke Bond cards. The later ones are easy to get. I have had this for a while, but I have also ordered from an England collection, 2 or 3 more. I like to have at least two without cards and also 2 albums with cards. I am a stickler for condition also so many I will not buy unless the condition is stellar. It is hard to get this book in excellent condition. This one I would rate as very good condition as my standards on condition are usually higher than the sellers. The stain on the bottom of the card page above is actually not at all visible in the book, so it must be lighting. I will add comments when I get more of these. This is 10/13/2015. 2 more received Nov 4/2015. One received Nov 7/2013 for a total now of 4 of these books.

Very nice blade ! Do you have a large collection of cards ?
    2. bladerunner22 bladerunner22, 9 years ago
Hi Manikin, yes I do. Has been growing by the day for the last 2 months when I started. I have around 70 different albums now and also many unused cards also. Most serious collectors usually have filled albums and also complete sets of cards that were never mounted and also unused albums of each different album.

Yes Manikin, you should have seen the cards mainly in the 1960's in tins of tea.

Hi mcheconi, wish I would have started to photograph birds. I remember learning from these cards when we were kids, and then looking out sometimes from our kitchen windows and seeing blue jays. Always loved birds.

I was giving a friend who had been out of the States for 20+ yrs. a ride from MIA to ATL. About half way up FL, he asked, " what happened to all the birds?". I was in & out of the States & hadn't noticed the loss. Guess it was the insecticides that killed the insects they fed on or more directly.

Today I received 2 more of the rare songbirds album and was quite impressed as they were in excellent condition. One was with the cards all in and one without. Both covers and books were in immaculate condition. I got these from a Brooke Bond site on the net. All the other books that I ordered were also in A-1 shape. Very well worth buying as I am seeing from things on sale on ebay that the sellers mostly know nothing about grading or are very lax or deceptive.

My friend has a couple of song bird albums he was trying to sell at the swap meet yesterday. I thumbed through one, and every page or so, it had a thin floppy little clear 45rpm in there. He would just give them to me. I wish there was some way I could give them to you. I like where your going with the nature of your collecting.

Oh, there is a way. I will try to obtain, send and ship for free to you. Merry Christmas.
