I bought this bud vase about a year ago now. I was very happy to see the Murano label that day. I had no problem handing over the $3 for it. But when I got home it was then I noticed a little chip on the top. I've tried not to let it bother me, and it still displays well when placed a certain way.
All that said. I'm wondering about something I know nothing about.
Repair work.
It stands 9 & 13/16" tall, with an opening of bang on 1/2".
I tend to think it would be a technical repair because of it's frosted feature. I'd hate to de-value it, if that's what repairing a piece does.
Do I just enjoy it as is? But, ultimately, I must sell one day........
As well, for all I know, it might only be worth $25 on a good day
in perfect condition.
I also posted this in the event someone lost a label on a similar item, and can now i.d their own for an epic ahhh :) moment.
I could only like....a sad chip :(((
A repairer might possibly grind it down and acid etch to suit the current finish. Worth it? I don't know!!!??!!

You can hide it some, depending on how deep it is, by sanding in the chipped area.
this is very nice, but i don't think Carlo Moretti used that kind of label. that label looks like one i've seen on Chinese pieces. [sorry, but it's what i've learned over the last couple years - mainly from CW!]
Might be an idea. Just to knock the sheen off the chipped area with some 400 grit just to up the appeal a bit.

I reluctantly agree ho2cultcha. It seems a generic label. My thoughts linger as to why the Chinese would delve with such a piece, so I'm not totally convinced.
i am 99% sure it is a moretti satinato vase....
seems to be just a generic murano label to me....
i based my guess on the flat base as well as the label. Carlo Moretti uses a particular label which is very different from this one. a lot is being sold as Murano - along w/ attributions which are not true. i've only recently learned this [thanks vetraio et al!]. most of what i see now is Chinese - a lot of it is excellent quality, but people try to pass it off as Murano, which isn't cool.

My apologies ho2cultcha for the shortcomings of my old Olympus with the sticky shutter....and my oversight. It really does look flat in the photo. I added another better shot of the base profile.

I had several of these model over the years in different sizes and versions and everything seems to be ok for me that this is an original.... the shape has been made in satinated glass, in colored glass with clear glass foot and marmorized... no doubt at all....
