I found this trunk on a craigslist ad in Venice Fl. The couple I purchased it from bought it in Colarado some 30 years ago. The date was stamped 1885 on the bottom. I have no clue as to who the maker was. Wish I could post more pictures. The detail in the hardware is stuff I have never seen. The casters on the bottom amazed me. The caster spins around 360 degrees. The measurements are 36 " long x 22 wide x 30 " tall. I anyone has any information about this type of trunk or its maker. Please email me russmith48@yahoo.com Most trunks that I have worked on have victorian type pictures. The pics on this trunk seem to be from a different country. The trunk also had it key.
Oh wow!! Only the second one of these I've ever seen and both are on CW. Jim Cardoza posted one like this back a few months ago. Yours and his are both just beautiful!! Here's the link to Jim's

That is really amazing. I love it. . . And I'm jealous! I am 2 blocks from the ocean so if I had anything like that it would just mold. Thank you for sharing!
Beautiful carpet trunk! All the hardware is American in design and patents. Some trunk makers did use prints that had European designs or themes. Most of the pictures were printed by American printing companies, but a few were printed in Europe and used by American trunk makers. But the trunk is American and there were several makers that did make some of the carpet covered trunks. Great find.. wish I had found it!
