This plate is a production number made by Kurata (Joetsu Crystal) at a time when they made lots for the American firm Mikasa.
These are not art glass but are still beautiful and very well made.
I am always amazed that a company like Kurata was able to make what was probably quite high volume pressed glass at such a high standard.
Kurata and Hoya made glass sold as Mikasa, but after Mikasa bought Walther Glass it seems all production came from Germany.
Early Mikasa glass was often labelled "Mikasa by Kurata" but later the Kurata name was dropped.
I think this plate dates to the 1980s.
Diameter: 30cm (12in)
