Thought this was a unique old bag when I saw it come up for sale on Craigslist. Had to have it,and drove about 50 miles round trip to get it.
It is in fair condition and needs the handle restored. The strap is broken off on one side. The handle looks like it had a buckle on the top for both sides of the handle to attach to. The bottom has what looks like a serial number punched on it 17/145.This is the only markings on the entire bag. From the research I have done it looks like it might have been made in England or France. I have notfound a bag exactly like it yet.

I'm researching my own bag, but found yours similar to this one! Have you heard of Il Sellaio? This is the brand for my bag...
hi! just bought a bag at auction almost like yours. mine is the full croc and the tail is even wrapped up both sides. like yours, mine has a number on the bottom -one side has the number 20 the other has 354. obviously a serial number. mine has part of a newspaper stuck in it talking about pres. Roosevelt, which would date the bag 30s and 40s. i am in kansas, have no idea where this was originally acquired. mine also has brass ball feet.
Thank you bossy
elaine Thank you for the link. The bag looks just like mine , but is in better shape and looks so much brighter in color.Mine is very dark in color on the outside, maybe it is dirty. I have not heard of Il Sellaio.
amy smith Thank you for the post.Very interesting, I bought this one for $30.00 from a local Gentlman on Craigslist.
JT : just seen a bag quite simular to yours on Antique Roadshow, don't remember the price seems to me it was around the $600 figure. It appeared to be in excellant condition ,you should be able to pick up the info on their FB site.
