This urn, which sits next to the desk I just posted at The Society of California Pioneers, is painted porcelain on enamel.
The Society of California Pioneers has a bevy of Chinese and other Asian artifacts, as the Asian experience is vital to California's history. It wasn't always a friendly relationship, as other items in the museum showed.
The colors on this particular urn are just amazing.
From my recent trip to the Society of California Pioneers...
These look like gorgeous Chinese Famille Rose vases.
On the contrary, clearly Rose Medallion !
Thanks Savoychina- I knew it had to be one of the roses, lol. Either way, they are beautiful aren't they.
They certainly are ! :)
Oh wow my grandmother had the exact same urn when I was growing up. So amazing.
i am not so fond of famille rose , but i think this is an Excellent rose famille, i think this is one of the earlier , there are generations until now
this got IMO strongly late Daoguang influences( 1850) because you got the vibrant colors in the side of the table as distinction and you the refined gold _copper diademe in the hair pieces
it,s not mine taste but IMO its a value vase and technically a good vase
blue rocks in it as a of sort qianlong tribute ( it ain,t qianlong) , it could even be early daoguang hahaha you need an better expert , stakes are too high to make mistakes ,
this is an amazing piece - screams quality famille rose! looks like one of a pair of palace or soldier vases.
