Hi, all. I am a long time member here and conduct estate sales for a living.
Can anyone give me guidance on the rarity of this fishtail sign? I cannot find another example on eBay. I am guessing it was used over a store front?
I'm not asking for a value, just trying to determine if it would be considered rare or harder to find so that I can assign my own value for the estate. I would post how to find the estate sale so that everyone could participate, but I believe that isn't allowed.
I have another sign that I posted as well that is a Canadian sign.
Thanks!
Lee
These are commonly referred to as "sled signs". 1950's-early 60's. I think the banner is a post manufacture add-on, judging from placement and manner secured. Doesn't quite fit and screws are prominent. Also it's covering up the trademark detail below the logo. Sign of Good Taste is the slogan from 1957, so it could be a long marriage. Yes, these were used as store front signs, I've also seen them with grocery bag holders attached. Not rare, but scarce, and condition is important. The sled signs are prized by collectors. I can see this this configuration drawing some interest.

Hey Lee - I've been to your warehouse and bought a couple items in the past. Nice looking sale and will have to stop by. -Chad
Chad, pick me up, I'll be ready.
Love the Grossman's Market sign!
I've seen the SOGT banner attached to buttons before but it looks like a good fit on this sled! Thanks for sharing.
