Gramps old AB sign poss date of 1951 , I've had it for 25 years it worked in the 90's well but plug needs replaced . I need info on date verification . serial number on the Jefferson electric luminous tube transformer is 218326 , cat # 727-351 model 015 .
Any advice
I believe the last 3 digits on the catalog # is the date so March 1951. You are right on the year. Nice sign, hope you get the plug replaced so you can light it up again. There is nothing like ruby red tubing lit up.
@ neonking . thank you very much . I always liked the way it looked lit . the plug is really dry rot , I'm probably going to rebuild the insides and clean it up a bit too . do you know of any good replacement part stores online or free standing ? Thanks again
Sorry for the late response but unfortunately no. You canno really service much inside the transformer other than possibly the switch and cord. You can get that at any electrical supply house or Home Depot. I would only recommend cleaning it using those clorox wipes. They get any bar tar off but don't damage the surfaces. You can use those wipes on the glass too but be careful not to break the tubes. They are fragile. Good luck!
@neonking , thanks for the info . I did use Clorox wipes when I took it out of storage , fortunately not to much bar tar as it was in gramps basement since new . I had it since 1990 but in a box mostly . I plan on putting plug and switch in soon . will post pics if it fires up
Looking forward to it.
