I bought this magazine for its comic book worthy cover. As is mentioned in the title this is a Science and Mechanics magazine from June of 1949.
As I said the cover is worthy of a comic book as the people look rather tiny and the locomotive quite large. There is a bit of exaggeration.
In the article they speak of locomotives made by Fairbanks-Morse. One of my favorite manufacturers of diesel electrics probably because they are rare. Sadly Fairbanks-Morse did not fare well in the locomotive business and soon went out of business I that market.
In the meantime there are a few scans of other pages. Seems to be an early version of Popular Mechanics of sorts.

      Hi there!

I hope you don't mind me asking this... I am not a train collector but I am a big Swatch watch collector. I have been looking for a 600dpi scan of two pages in this magazine but didn't find it. Would you be able to help? Thanks so much!

      Kind regards,

      Hans
