I recall seeing posts on the net showed several items that are now considered antiques and this phone was one of them. It was a bit of a joke but it came true.
The model 500 was made from 1950-1984 and probably the most common of phones. This one looks to close to the 1950 end. It isn't a modular phone that could be plugged in anywhere it was hard wired to the terminal.
It is very heavy with a lot of metal parts. The handset says "Western Electric Made in USA G 1". On the base under the hand set is "Bell System made by Western Electric".

This is great! I grew up using a telephone like this. I remember how great it was when the push button telephone came out. Those wonderful technological advancements:)

Thank you very much Scott. Yes the push button phone was much faster. And with the modular connectors you could have more than one phone.

Love these old rotary telephones. I have a Bell Electric Model 500 C/D in Mediterranean Blue. Picked it up at a yard sale for 5.00 bucks. It was probably refurbished by ATT in the early 1970s. It works great and the ringer is loud. Probably weighs 5 pounds.

Thank you very much clockerman. I recall how loud these phones were. The nice thing about a modular phone was that it could be unplugged. This one was hard wired to the wall.
