A friend gave me this trunk. I can't find any identifying marks to help me date it. Anyone have any ideas? It has small wheels on the bottom and floral embossed tin. It's not in great condition but I think it's beautiful:)
You sure came to the right place ! I'll send one of our experts over shortly. Nice trunk & welcome to CW, aka: CyberAsylum
That is one of the neatest inside compartment section I have seen. Love the color.
A lovely 1890's barrel top trunk. Very nice hardware on it -- cast iron. Without a makers label hard to know who made it -- many makers at the time making this style and the hardware was usually bought from a supplier. Beautiful intact interior which is always a bonus. Hope this helps a bit...
Thank you for posting these pictures. I have the same style trunk. It came out of my grandparents's home in Alabama. I am now in the process of restoring it. On the outside, it is in a little better shape than yours, but on the inside it is in much worse shape. Your pictures will help me to put together the pieces of the interior which remain. If it truly is an 1890's vintage trunk, it was probably purchased near Van Wert, Ohio where my grandmother was living at that time. Hope this helps.
great interior!you even have the "hatbox" (usually the 1st thing to disappear). i agree w/ trunkman 1890s.
Hi Very nice..no need to restore it...keep it in its original condition ..more value!
