This is a family antique. Our grandparents had it when they came to the US from Germany. It has drawers on the right side and a bar with hangers on the left. There is a small drawer under the hanging bar as well. It is covered in shipping labels in German and the leather handle is embossed with a number as seen in the one photo. We are guessing the metal in the framework is brass and we are unable to determine what the sides are made of. The interior is covered in blue material. The lock says Terryville, Ct. Just wondering if any one has more information on these types of trunks.
This is known as a wardrobe trunk with the multiple drawers hangers etc. popular in the 1920s and 30s. many were made with vulcanized fibre , flaxtite ,etc. this is an american made model. The large majority were made in the U.S., shipped overseas, purchased by those in Europe who then immigrated to the U.S.
There were many manufacturers ,some that come to mind are Belber,Hartman,Etc.

Thanks! Are there any tell-tale signs for determining what product the trunk is made of?
