    During the 1880's a Bell Telephone operator would wear a 10.5 pound breast plate. The Blake transmitter & Long pole receiver would be attached to a harness. During the 1920's to 1930's the operators two piece headset would get lighter and more comfortable. In the 1950's a one piece headset
    even lighter in weight.

      These early ones had dry cell batteries in them ?

      No battery supply came through the switchboard

      So, what was the source of power ? I believe when they went to AC, it was 28v.

      Lunch & washroom breaks must have been an hassle.
