Some of these makers had limited output and were not around for a long time so not much information is there to find. This maker had at least two businesses going and perhaps dabbled in saddlery and harness making as it seems these for many at the time all fit together. Labels rarely survived so fortunate that this trunk still has one. If you want to know more about the business your best bet may be to contact saint John City Hall records or archives department and see if his business was listed - this trunk may be from 1860 to 1880 or thereabouts. Other contributors may know of other venues for research... and if you are lucky they may know this maker -- if they do you will hear from them shortly.
It's a lovely trunk -- thanks for the post and Welcome to Collector's Weekly.

thank you, that is very helpful...one of these trips east I will get to St Johns. I bought the trunk in Nova Scotia many years ago and when the internet came into my world I tried to find info but nothing.
