A custom tailored Psychedelic era Fashion Sensation. Created by Modern Tailors in Plainfield NJ, this ooak show stopper was created for a Richard L. Helbrig. The bold mustard yellow, orange and brown swirling patterns begs the question - Mr. Helbrig - what exactly did you wear with this? Love this jacket, such a shout-out across time. Hippie fashion or mod madness? - Does it matter? Nice that the tailor dated it to 1973. Love that kind of provenance...
this is so great!!
Well- he was from New Jersey - so that explains a LOT! I bet he had dark brown pants to wear with it, and bright orange ones for special occasions! FANTASTIC!

Modern Tailors of Plainfield NJ was owned & run by Attilio DeDario (1908-1994), who emigrated from Italy in 1936. He opened & ran the store on E. 2nd St. in Plainville NJ from 1936 to 1978 when he retired. See link, page 11, just under the date in upper right corner.

OOPS! Attilio DiDario, not DeDario.

OMG...LOL
I used to have one of those crushed velvet shirts with the angel sleeves and embroidery around the neck. It screamed HIPPIE, as had to have it. I also had big red platform shoes too. Oh those days.....
