I acquired this yesterday and am in love with it, but I can't find anything like it, and have no experience with chests. I had thought to paint it, but I would hate to devalue it as the more I look at it, the more handmade it seems.
The only markings anywhere are on the inside of the lid, and it's painted "547" with a "V" in a circle next to it. It's 39 1/2" long by 16" high.
Can anyone help me with any information? I would super appreciate it!
It is totally handmade. Paint would totally ruin it. There are a number of folks on CW who will be able to tell you about your beautiful trunk.
Thanks, Efesgirl! I had just brought it inside to clean it up before starting to sand it, but every detail is so imperfectly beautiful, I thought, "Uh, oh... better get some advice before I accidentally ruin this!" I'm looking forward to hearing more! Thanks for the affirmation not to paint it. :)
Just leave it as it is until those who know get a chance to see it.
Agreed. :)
Amazing piece great find
What are the measurements: height, length, width?
Hi, Efesgirl, it's 39 1/2" long, 17" high (didn't have the lid on earlier), and 14" deep. :)
Thanks, Master!
