This signed and dated Randy Strong vase was very difficult to photograph because the surface is like a highly polished silver mirror with flecks of cobalt blue spiraling around the surface. It acts like a fisheye lens, picking up whatever is in the surrounding room. I couldn't quite stay out of the pictures :-) It is only about 4" tall by 3" in diameter with a polished lip. It is signed on the pontil, "Strong 5/1/71". These are not commonly found and are sought by collectors of this master of the American Studio Glass movement. The iridescence is amazing!

I think I just bought a Strong 83 snifter today! My wife and I stopped by a Thrift Store and I saw this nice looking glass snifter and checked the bottom for a mark, and it looked to me like Strong 83. I don't know a thing about Randy Strong Glass, I just liked the look. Then just saw your post! :^) WOW you've got a nice one. I already took some pictures, but I think I'll take some better ones before I post.
Thanks so much for posting this today beyemvey!

That's beautiful Bob, and you did a great job photographing it. Reflective surfaces are so difficult to snap well!

Nice find Bill - he has quit making things like stemware and vases these days and is only making very top end sculptures & such. Nice find!

I've never heard of Randy Strong Bob. The mirror finish with all those hash marks is top-notch!

BTW... sorry so late but I've been trying to play catch-up for the past 4 days :-)

He's been pretty popular in that West Coast school of art glass. His prices on large sculptures are approaching some Chihuly levels of pricing. His earlier works are still affordable, as are his stemware (no longer made), and paper weights are quite cheap.
