the base is designed as a tree with multiple "branches" on either side. the man and woman are of japanese design. the shade is metal and collapses on itself, hanging to form the treetop. the man is playing some kind of guitar/madolin/musical instrument and the woman is reading. they are removable. i believe it to be pottery.

if anyone recognizes this lamp or has an idea, any help would be greatly appreciated. there are no markings on it to identify it. it was found in a box in an attic, along with a cookbook from 1942. unfortunately, thats all i have to go on and i dont know my antiques or how to identify them.

If you watch ebay for "oriental pottery lamps" or 1950's pottery lamps" you may find an exact match. Delightful lamp...LOVE the turquoise shade !

Adam, Don't know whether you discovered any info, but I have the exact same lamp. It's very heavy plaster, from the 40s/50s, but don't know the maker. Mine was expensive ($300), but I love it. (I'm new to this site, so didn't reply earlier).

I have a lamp very similar to it that my grandmother gave me. Mine has two people on it also, but they are sitting in swings. I remember that the shade on it was just like yours, but I don't know what happened to it. I also would love to know more about my lamp and locate a shade like the one that was on it.

Very nice and I do remember seeing these kind of lamps in 50's . Seems like many households had them. Thanks for sharing it

I bought this identical lamp for my mother at Kress in 1953 for $5.

Love it, at first glance, I thought the band "Devo" was back and they left one of thier hats on a lamp. Sorry just kidding around, but very unique looking lamp, thanks for sharing
