Some of you are aware that i collect everything i can find / afford about the surrealist / dada movement in the usa / europe. Imagine my surprise when i dropped into a little antique store i always visit when i go back east to see my family and i find this treasure on the table! The book is in french and it is one of the most important manifestos / introductions of artists out there. There is a chapter on Freda Kahlo 'de Rivera' and this was the first time she was given a prominent status of her own (despite the de rivera!). Also Matta, wilfredo lam, giacometti, arshile gorky etc... the inscription is to his good friend Arthur Brentano jr - a very well-respected new york publisher and the publisher of this book. When i bought the book, i didnt realize that was Breton's name / signature.
How come i cant use cw on my phone????
I find surrealism to be very interesting and would happily look through that book!
Cool book, but I know nothing about new phones. I am an old schooler. I still have a flip phone.lol
Thanks Efes and iggy! The only 'phones' i can think of are francaphones here!!
That is awesome. What a great book to have. I have slowly been collecting Transition magazine, I have 6-7 issues so far, Tres expensive por moi though.
thanks rockbat. i'm not familiar w/ Transition, but will keep my eyes peeled!
its not the Gallimard edition but still value, this is the interim period , because its from Bretano junior, probably just after his father died, this is quite rare , because the Griffis timespan after him ( Brentano) is much longer
the value depends also on the edition, well done congrats
