This is a lovely silver medal. this piece i found whilst on a building site digging footings it was buried about two foot deep it was totally black and did not resemble silver at all.i polished it up wich revealed this lovely medal with hallmarks and looks to be hand engraved as looking t it under a 60x jewellers loop can see chisel marks in normal circumstances i would refine and melt the gold or silver i find some times some things are to nice to destroy so keep this with my collection. engraved on the back it says:25 miles 2nd team wyndham R.C.C. .. H.harlow 1930: i constantly pull this out my collection the novelty never wares off.enjoy any info on this would be much appreciated thanks.
Very nice! The medallion itself is cast sterling silver. UK hallmarks, but not readable in the photos as they are out of focus.
Hallmarks are still out of focus/too small. Maybe you can find them here:

the hallmarks are an anchor a lion then an old fashioned f then on the left stamped v&s thanks lovely isn't it...
It was made by Vaughton & Sons, Silversmiths & Medallists, Livery Street, Birmingham, assayed at Birmingham office (anchor), date letter ``F`` for 1930.
Of course, lion passant for sterling standard.
