27th annual West Michigan Bottle show was a bit slow in terms of business, but it went alright. I was not entirely thrilled with it, as many were charging prices above actual value, and there were so many reproduction paper-labels, but I came home with 8 items and still spent under the $150 I allotted myself.

One man named Rich was a very good salesman though. Probably one of the best at getting people to buy an item without feeling heavily pushed.

I also finally met the new girlfriend of our local collector; I mention him as he runs and organises the club and bottle show every year.

I took pictures for the club's newsletter.

But that last photo is so very broken. It's fine on my computer but when I upload it here it turns white, except for the normal colour in the bar along the top, and it seems to throw parts of bottle tops into that. I think I'm gonna delete that one and replace it. LOL.
      Thanks for visiting.

Some really cool bottles here now.
I'll be reposting mine with better pics soon. And may add a pic of another interesting bottle I got the same evening.
      Nice post here!

Did you by chance see a bottle like mine at this show?
If so, do you remember any details?
I'm likely bugging you by now, I'm sorry.

      I'm always happy to help.
While there were many food-related bottles, none with an intact label of such age were present. Of those of similar age that were food-related, they were all canning jars. I can tell you that your bottle is quite uncommon.
I saw one bottle with a similar base feature, but it was not pontiled. I questioned another collector, and he wasn't sure what causes the feature, as I've seen it before (in fact, I have a mini somewhere).

Pretty cool. I haven't been to any bottle shows but should probably check them out. My primary collecting interest is in full unopened spirits and bitters. Do you have any old unopened cocktail bitters? Just curious. Cheers, --Eric ewitz@comcast.net

No cocktail bitters here. Plenty of still- and partially-full bottles, though. I've only gone to the G.R. show I have here posted. Lots of diversity and people.

I'll have to keep an eye out for bottle shows in my area. I've found a few interesting old cocktail bitters from estate sales and online sales. Orange bitters from the 40s, a handful of old Angostura bitters from mid-century, Abbott's Bitters from pre-1907, 1914, and my favorite, which is a large bottle of Peychaud's bitters circa 1905. Always on the lookout for more. Cheers!

Aphonik, Angostura is still sold last I saw, so if you want a taste of the past... there ya' go. LOL. I'm unfamiliar with Peychauds', but there must have been hundreds of bitters produced since their popularity in the 1840s began to arise.
