A couple of weekends ago, Gloria and I went to the Miami Beach Expo antique show. I already had in mind what I was looking for, but then when I saw this golden beauty sitting on the shelf, I had to have it! It's a rare, Durand, golden luster, Moorish crackle vase with hard ribbing, circa 1910 - 1915. The crackle effect is achieved by submerging hot, molten glass into cold water causing it to crack. It is then reheated and blown into a mold - with the additional blowing opening up the fissures. Finally, it's lustered and iridised. It's a nice size measuring 10 inches tall and is very, very gold. LOL An example of the decor is Illustrated in the book, "Durand the Man and his Glass" page 64, figure 153. As always, thanks for looking.
