The Boy Scout Canteens have a unique flying saucer shape which is easily recognizable. The scout emblem on the canvas cover also helps.
This canteen is a bit on the small side. But they are designed fo9r scouts and not adults. It is about 8" across with a 40" strap.
As there is not much reason to ever remove the canteen cover which is an excellent design feature. But as a result the snaps did not want to open. They may have been snapped shut for 50 years.
The stopper on this is plastic so this could be 1960s but then again it could be earlier. The earlier ones have metal stoppers.
Bought this along with a back pack I will post later.
Thank you
