I love these Loetz Crete Papillon vases with their M-crimped rims. I also love anything holly or Christmas...and the fact that they are a mirror image set was also appealing. The holly ornamentation is attached with a metal screw and can be removed for year-round enjoyment of the vases. They are listed as being about 8" tall. The PN is 85/3693 made for Bakalowits ca 1899.
No doubt for me; these are fantastic!
racer4four: Lol! Well, as you can see, I only had 60 seconds of doubt! Mostly over the price, which the dealer claims was a great deal. I think he was likely correct when I factor in all the enjoyment I will get out of them!
Well, after examining the photos carefully, I see these ARE the exact pair of vases on Loetz.com. I also see on the internet that they have been auctioned and re-auctioned repeatedly, passed around like a cheap date, as it were! Rest assured they have now found their "forever home".....until I go broke and have to pawn something fast ;)
What a super find !!!!!!!! Sammyz
Beautiful and unique!
I just go these in. I take back all the bad things I thought about the bronze. They are awesome! The depth of the painting on the leaves is amazing!
Have to love them again! They are truly amazing, I can feel your joy to get them :-)
Thanks kyratango! I wish I knew who made the bronze holly. They even painted moss or lichen on the bark!
Bergman Vienna bronze???
Thanks kyratango! I will check that out! I saw the same bronze Holly motif on a known Kralik vase the other day.
