there is no known history for this. It was my fathers and inherited to me when my mom passed away. I know it has 14k stamped on the back. but the K-B is unknown along with the front pic of some kind of ship??
Does the other one look the same on the front side?
K-B is most likely the initials of the maker.
the other cufflink is the same. pic on front and plain on back side.
I didn't find anything on the web in regard to K-B.
Can we have another pic of the intials ? Maybe it is my MonitoRs screen here that ( or my tired old eye ) that makes it look that way, but could it be ????? KHB ???? just throwing it out there.
Not saying it IS those intials just some tired old eyes here.....I am diabetic so my eyesight not so good....
its a def K - B
Any ideas on the front?? What it is?? Never seen it before.
Just wondering if Barton A. Ballou had a brother and the K stands for the bro 1st name and the B for Ballou??
If you look real close at the space between the K and B, there sure is a faint outline of an H. But just like the K is much deeper impressed than the B, the H appears to have been even more lightly struck. Old tired eyes or not AntiqueRose, you are right.
How about a better focused picture and it'll show up much better.
Thanks!
Wish I knew about the boat/ship...huh?
It is Cyrillic ... Russian. The KB would be KV in our alphabet. The letter on the front of the link is a 'G', I think.
ok i figured it out. there it is, a perfect pic of K-B.
Yeah now I can't see what did look like the outline of an H between the K-B
But I bet with the better pic you'll get some help identifying it now.
Best of luck to you!
I guess this will remain a "Mystery". Someone must have seen this pic on front of cufflink before or know what the initials mean.
If it's Russian as vetraio suspects, may be difficult to find out more information on the cufflinks. You can try googling for a site on cufflink collectors with a forum where you can ask.
