After a while I've decided to post some more of my Bernard Instone Pieces.
I was very lucky to realize this pendant/compact was made by Bernard Instone, I bought it at a extremely good price. I have never seen a multi purpose piece by him and as you can see it is both a pendant which you can use on a chain and a compact, very clever. At the back the mark is a B with a I going through the middle, I think it was made at his factory at Langstone, the name is a combination of both his mother's maiden name and his father's name. I would date this as one of his earlier piece's and was probably made around the 1920's. It's beautifully made and I just love the beading around the little compact mirror and the little puff. I hope you like it.
Many thanks for looking
Oh my, that's an absolute beauty!
Hi pebble, thank you I'm glad you like this piece, I appreciate the comment.
It is fantastic Jean!!!
The beading is very similar to the beading done on butterfly wing pieces of jewellery.
Well found Jean!
What didn't he do?
Hi Judy, thank you I really appreciate the visit and your comments are always appreciated.
Hi Karen, I'm still on the look out for different types of pieces he made unfortunately they seem to be drying up. I haven't seen anything different recently but you still have them moment when they seem to turn up all at once, fingers crossed. As always thanks for your comment.
Many thanks
