One thing I love about this dress clip is that it is marked B.I so therefore I definitely know that it is the work of Bernard Instone. It is a lovely brooch with his signature Enamel leaves and flowers which are so distinctive in his work. I think the stone is a aquamarine unfortunately it does have a small nibble but I'll get my friend to polish it out, other than that the clip is in great condition, it was probably made in the 1930s. You have to be so careful when opening the clip it's lethal, nowadays you probably wouldn't be able to sell this type of brooch due to the health and safety rules.
Many thanks for looking.
This is great Jean!!! Love it!
Might be a good idea to just put it on one dress or coat and leave it there lol to save the fingers!! :-)
Of course I think this is fabulous Jean.
I'm happy the clip is strong!
Hi Judy, great idea to keep it permanently on a jacket, them teeth are dangerous. Thanks for your comment :-)))
Hi Karen, yes them teeth are lethal. I know your a Bernard instone fan I was lucky to spot this on eBay, so of course I had to bid. I do have a multi coloured Enamel and marcasite without a stone round brooch, this is a welcome addition.
Gorgeous clip! I love the combination of enamel and stone!
I'm so glad you like this clip, as you say the combination of the enamel and aquamarine is pretty. Thank you bijoucaillouvintage, I appreciate your kind comment.
Lovely Piece !!!!!!!!!!!!
Lovely and interesting piece, Jean!
Lol for the lethal part! GNARK ;-))
Hi antiquerose, I really appreciate your comment.
Hi kyra, I've seen a yellow enamel and Citrine stone like this brooch, I think I prefer this one because I like the contrast in colours. Believe me you have to be very careful opening up this clip, it will have your fingers off.
I haven't seen very much of you on CW are you up to something new, like restoring something wonderful which is taking up your time, if so I can't wait to to see the end result.
Hi Jean, I'm busy for the moment with a niece who comes from New Caledonia to settle in France and has a lot of administrative papers to get and drive her to get a job in her pastry part :-)
Keeping an eye here though, only less active!
Hi kyra, I don't envy you I absolutely hate paper work, but it does need to be done, so good luck with it and I hope everything goes well with your niece.
I see you commented on the CH necklace, I don't understand what that was all about, it's quite obvious it's not his.
Thanks Jean!
The CH post... lol! It is all about mean poster who knows nothing but doesn't trust those who are more "educated" in jewelery clues :-D
Hi kyra, I really don't understand why people post but don't take on boat advice and get very rude when it's not what they want to hear. I don't think we shall be hearing back from her, lol.
Many thanks
