Here's a history from the Automobile Association of eastern India website The Automobile Association of Eastern India was established on 28th August, 1904 which was formerly known as Automobile Association of Bengal. It is a matter of pride that this Association is one of the most ancient Automobile Association in the world being even senior to the Automobile Association of Great Britain. The first motor vehicle Act of this Country was mainly framed by this Association in the year 1913. By then the Head Quarter of the Association had already moved from Chowringhee to 13, Ballygunge Circular Road (Now Promothesh Barua Sarani), Kolkata-700019 and settle in its own premises.
